Technical Support Services

Technical Support delivers comprehensive support throughout the entire lifecycle of all computer equipment and devices owned by the University. Our team collaborates with faculty and staff to identify technology support needs including quotes for new devices and printers, new device and printer setup, diagnostics, software quotes and support, hardware repair, as well as the repurposing and recycling equipment. 


Purchasing New Computer Equipment

Before ordering, departments interested in buying new equipment should submit a request for a or contact the ITS Help Desk at 607-777-6420. ITS works with multiple vendors, including vendors on state contract, to find the best pricing for the University, and recommends following these .

  • Wiindows 11 Pro
  • Intel i5 or i7 Processor
  • 16GB preferred
  • 500+ GB Hard-Drive; Solid State Drive (SSD) Preferred
  • 3 yr. On-site warranty

  • MacOS (latest 3 versions)
  • M1 or M2 processor (if you have more than one external monitor, need Pro or Max)
  • Applecare recommended

Computer/Equipment Repair

Our team includes Dell and Apple Certified repair technicians who are proficient in repairing University-owned devices, regardless of warranty status. If your Dell or Apple device requires repair, please submit a request through IT Self Service or contact the ITS Help Desk. For devices that are no longer under warranty, we can provide an estimate for the parts required and complete the repair if desired.

Concierge Service

Pickup and delivery of computer equipment can be arranged by calling the ITS Help Desk at 607-777-6420 or . Make your request to use the Concierge Service when reporting your problem to the ITS Help Desk.

Faculty and staff are still welcome to drop their computers off for repair at the ITS Help Desk anytime between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Computer Lifecycle Replacement

ITS sponsors an annual bulk computer purchasing program for the campus (normally occurring during the Spring Semester), which helps reduce the cost per machine via volume discounts. This also helps departments to be more aware of their equipment replacement cycle and their technology budgets. The current recommendation is that faculty and staff machines should be replaced every four years and that departments move towards compliance with our Computer Endpoint Security Standards

ITS offers a reliable computer repair service for University-owned equipment. With certified technicians from Dell and Apple, we provide diagnostics, cost estimates, and hardware repairs. Laptop Loaner Program

Faculty and staff who have University owned computer equipment being repaired by ITS, or those traveling out of the country, will be able to utilize our ITS Repair Loaner Laptop Program.
