The External Scholarships and Undergraduate Research Center helps students find and apply for merit-based external scholarships and awards. While there are no universal prohibitions against the use of AI tools or ChatGPT by fellowship organizations, students who use these tools are unlikely to be successful because the scholarships ask for submitted applications to include personal narratives in your voice and some fellowships prohibit their use altogether. To achieve these narratives requires undergoing a writing process in which applicants deeply reflect and their past, present, and future and engage in self-discovery along the way. Such efforts are evident to application reviewers.
