CSTEP Engagement Policy

Engagement

Beginning in the 2024-2025 academic year, CSTEP is launching an engagement policy that will apply to all CSTEP members. In order to remain a CSTEP member in good standing (with access to CSTEP benefits), you must regularly attend CSTEP events. In addition to promoting community, these changes are meant to ensure that those interested in CSTEP are able to take advantage of a variety of the opportunities and supports available to promote their academic and professional success.

Attendance Expectations

  1. CSTEP undergraduate students must maintain active membership in CSTEP by attending CSTEP programming. This includes CSTEP鈥檚 individual and co-sponsored events.
  2. Attendance and participation will be taken electronically and periodically evaluated. It is the student鈥檚 responsibility to use the electronic attendance form so that their attendance will count.
  3. Attend CSTEP programming: 2 events or programs in each identified block (blocks are roughly 2 months long. (View the calendar of weekly blocks, here). At least one non chop-n-chew event every block (i.e., a full program event with a special focus, such as networking, resume building, etc.)
  4. Conduct at least one formal check-in per semester. This is a scheduled meeting with the staff, which staff are expected to log and take notes on. It may be a progress report check-in meeting.

Attendance Accountability Policy

Students who do not meet the monthly attendance requirements will receive one warning, via email. A second block of missing the attendance expectation (consecutive or nonconsecutive) will result in the student being removed from the CSTEP roster. Once removed from the roster, the student will no longer have access to CSTEP supports including travel funding, stipends, test preparation, or other opportunities.
