Calming the emotional storm

Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
Fridays, 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.

This group is designed for individuals who have painful emotions that are very intense, or get intensely frustrated. Sometimes these painful emotions are just so hard to understand, let alone regulate. And, telling ourselves not to feel them just doesn’t seem to work. This group is intended to help one learn to identify, label, and understand one’s emotions, help one to identify obstacles that get in the way of changing emotions, and increasing positive emotional events. It is also intended to help one to understand and learn that accepting, finding meaning for, and tolerating painful emotions may be the best way for getting through to the other side of an emotional event.

Facing social anxiety with courage

Schedule: Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.

When faced with anxiety, our natural response is often to avoid the situations that trigger it. While this may provide temporary relief, it can also worsen our anxiety over time, making it harder to comfort and cope with these challenging situations. In this group, we focus on gradually stepping into our courage and facing the difficult stimuli that cause social anxiety. Together, we create a safe and supportive environment where you can practice exposure, build resilience, and overcome social anxiety at your own pace. Join us to take the first step toward reclaiming your life and confidence.

Empowerment through education: expanding our understanding around trauma

Schedule: Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.

This group is a psychoeducation and skills group for those wanting to expand their knowledge on psychological trauma. This includes defining trauma, the neurobiology of trauma, and understanding how trauma impacts individuals, groups, communities, and systems. Facilitators will simultaneously teach and practice beneficial skills and activities to better manage trauma symptoms. Throughout this group, members will learn about trauma-informed principles and ways to support themselves and others affected by trauma with a variety of techniques and approaches. Group content is provided through a cultural humility lens that considers how identity and culture impact how trauma is understood and experienced. We strive to support students in being empowered and liberated with knowledge to better understand themselves and those around them. We hope to help trauma survivors and allies learn more about how to move from surviving to thriving, with the ultimate goal of improving overall functioning.
