Discover what makes teaching wicked! This training is open to all teaching assistants and graduate students in any discipline who want to enhance their teaching skills and increase student engagement. We’ll share best practices for facilitating discussions, delivering lectures, developing lesson plans, crafting learning outcomes, providing meaningful feedback, and using educational technology. Explore, experience, and design active learning and problem-solving to challenge students to think critically and creatively. At the end of the workshop, you’ll be equipped to create a classroom environment where students face at least one wicked problem of their disciplinary field.

For faculty and graduate students who primarily use writing assignments. The invention of large-language generative AI models has forever changed how the public views writing. In this hands-on workshop, we will explore ways in which we can leverage pedagogical strategies to engage students in focusing on writing as a process, rather than simply a product. Strategies will fall along a continuum - from those for instructors who wish to prevent generative AI-usage to those for others who would like to use it in a sophisticated and responsible manner in their classrooms. Please identify (or bring) a specific assignment for the workshop, as we will be engaging in redesign of assignments in the workshop.
