Background
Brenda Iglesias has performed throughout Mexico, the Czech Republic and the United States in prominent venues such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Centro Nacional de las Artes, Teatro Degollado, Liechtenstein Palace, Prague鈥檚 Estates Theater and Cincinnati Music Hall. She has sung professionally with Cincinnati Opera, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Sinf贸nica Carlos Ch谩vez, Orquesta Sinf贸nica Nacional de M茅xico, Orquesta Filarm贸nica de la UNAM and Orquesta Sinf贸nica de la UAEH, as well as collaborated with celebrated conductors Louis Langr茅e, James Burton, Jos茅 Luis Castillo and Eduardo Garc铆a Barrios.
Her wide-ranging repertoire encompasses the principal contralto and mezzo-soprano parts of the oratorio and concert repertoire, from the Baroque through the Classical and Romantic periods, as well as 20th-century music. Concert performance highlights include the solos in Brahms鈥檚 Alto Rhapsody, Mahler鈥檚 Kindertotenlieder and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, Prokofiev鈥檚 Alexander Nevsky, Falla's El Amor brujo, Mozart's Requiem, Bach鈥檚 St. John Passion, and Vivaldi鈥檚 Dixit Dominus. Some operatic credits include Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito, Drittte dame in Die Zauberfl枚te, Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica and La berg猫re, Chouette and Maman in L'enfant et les sortil猫ges. She workshoped the new operas Blind Injustice and Awakenings with the Opera Fusion: New Works program.
A prize-winner of the renowned "Carlo Morelli '' National Singing Competition at the Opera of Bellas Artes in Mexico and the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition, Iglesias has also been a recipient of numerous scholarships and grants, including Mexico鈥檚 prestigious FONCA (National Endowment for the Arts), PECDA (Stimulus Program for Artistic Creation and Development), SNFM (National System of Musical Development of Mexico), Pro-脫pera A.C., and the Corbett Full-tuition Scholarship at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Iglesias is currently an assistant professor of voice at 香港六合彩资料. She served on faculty at Western Illinois University and was an instructor of record at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, while pursuing her DMA and specializing in vocal pedagogy. Many renowned soloists, educators, and musicians have influenced her career, including Thomas Baresel, Cynthia Lawrence, Kenneth Griffiths, Kathleen Kelly, Carlos Aransay and Horacio Franco.
