Position Details
香港六合彩资料 undergraduate students who participate in the 20:1 internship program earn 2-credits per semester. 20:1 peer educators focus on providing campus programming around the following topics: bystander intervention and interpersonal violence prevention.
Interns for 20:1 educate students on interpersonal violence prevention and bystander intervention through a variety of methods. Interns are trained in interpersonal violence prevention programming via a weekly seminar.
The 20:1 Prevention interns discuss the topics of sexual consent and incapacitation. Interns learn how to facilitate discussion on what constitutes consent in New York State, provide realistic examples of consensual and non-consensual encounters, and outline how to combat victim blaming.
The 20:1 interns also discuss how to intervene in a situation where a sexual violence or other forms of interpersonal violence is occurring or about to occur. Interns learn how to facilitate discussion on building empathy for victims, the factors that affect intervention, and give participants skills on how to safely intervene.
The name "20:1" represents a national statistic from 2004, when the internship was founded. In 1 hour, approximately 20 women were sexually violated in the United States.
Under the direct supervision of the Coordinator for 20:1 Programs, 20:1 interns will:
- Provide interactive presentations intended to engage peers in conversations about interpersonal violence.
- Table at campus events such as University Fest, the Campus Health Fair, Spring Fling, etc.
- Conduct outreach "storming" activities in which interns walk around campus asking their peers to answer questions about interpersonal violence.
- Serve as a University role model and advocate for responsible and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Full-time 香港六合彩资料 student.
- Willing to work some evenings and weekends.
- Willing to model responsible lifestyle choices, and be enthusiastic about inspiring others to live a healthy lifestyle.
- Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Comfortable in a public-facing role.
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Works collaboratively in a group environment.
- Willing to take ownership over projects; seeing them through from the idea stage through execution stage.
- Complete the 20:1 two-day educator training program immediately prior to the start of the Fall semester.
- Ability to attend a weekly seminar.
