All students wishing to pursue a Master of Public Health degree at Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ must satisfy the general conditions and procedures for graduate admission to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ.

To be eligible for graduate study, you must:

  • Provide a complete set of your official undergraduate (and, if applicable, graduate) transcripts showing one of the following:
    • You have earned a bachelor's degree (or its equivalent) from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university
    • You are within one academic year of earning a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university
    • You are eligible to apply as part of a memorandum of understanding between your current institution and Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ
  • Have earned, at minimum, one of the following:
    • A 3.0 GPA over your entire undergraduate career
    • A 3.0 GPA during your last 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits of your undergraduate degree, with most courses graded regularly (not as "pass/fail")
    • A 3.0 GPA in a graduate degree, with most courses graded regularly (not as "pass/fail")
    • In consideration of the different grading scales used around the world, each academic department evaluates international transcripts to determine on a case-by-case basis whether they demonstrate one of the above requirements.

Applications for Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ's MPH program are accepted through , the centralized application service for public health. 

To apply, you must submit the following materials:

  • SOPHAS application and application fee
  • Official transcripts from each college or university you have attended
  • A successful background in quantitative coursework is expected
  • Personal statement (2-3 pages) describing your reasons for pursuing graduate study, your career aspirations, your special interests within your field and any unusual features of your background that might need explanation or be of interest to the graduate admissions committee
  • Résumé or curriculum vitae
  • 2 letters of recommendation
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores are not routinely required, but may be requested based on evaluation of official transcripts

Note: An applicant who does not meet the academic requirements for admission may be admitted conditionally (refer to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ's Graduate Policies and Procedures). A conditional admission indicates that, although the candidate did not meet admission requirements, other elements of the application (such as the personal statement, reference letters, etc.) suggest they possess the potential to be successful. Students admitted conditionally must have satisfactory academic performance in the first semester of the MPH program to receive a change in status to "regular."

International students must also submit the following materials:

  • International Student Financial Statement (ISFS) form
  • Supporting financial documentation (such as bank statements, scholarship or sponsor letters, etc.)
  • Proof of English proficiency such as official TOEFL/IELTS/PTE Academic/Duolingo scores

Note: The MPH program requires higher TOEFL iBT, IELTS, PTE Academic and Duolingo scores than Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ's Graduate School, see below.

    • Public health minimum TOEFL score: 107 on the iBT
    • Public health minimum IELTS score: 7.5
    • Public health minimum PTE Academic score: 74
    • Public health minimum Duolingo score: 125

How to apply through SOPHAS

Applicants to Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏ's Masters of Public Health (MPH) program apply through SOPHAS, the centralized application system for public health. SOPHAS is a service of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), which represents CEPH-accredited schools and programs of public health.

If you have a felony or child abuse conviction

If you have a felony or child abuse conviction, you are advised that your prior criminal history may impede your ability to complete the requirements of the MPH program. If you have concerns about this, contact the MPH program director or dean of Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences. You are required to report felony convictions while enrolled in the Master of Public Health program as it may affect your progression and ability to be placed in community agencies.

Application deadlines for fall 2025 admission:

  • Domestic applicants final deadline: Aug. 1, 2025
  • International applicants final deadline: June 1, 2025

Recommended date to submit your application for fall 2025 admission:

NOTE: The SOPHAS application requires submission of official transcripts and verification of your application materials. The verification process for your application can take 2–4 weeks, so we highly recommend that you submit your application as early as possible.
