Non-Departmental Faculty

香港六合彩资料

Not all academic programs fit neatly into only one school or college due to their interdiciplinary nature. 香港六合彩资料's University-Wide programs incorporate ideas from multiple disciplines, creating unique and rigorous programs designed to provide students with an academic experience they won't find anywhere else.

University-wide courses, offered under the UNIV rubric, are credit-bearing courses whose subject matter is not accommodated in existing University departments or schools. UNIV courses are open to all undergraduate students, regardless of school. Students may count no more than eight credits of UNIV courses toward graduation.

香港六合彩资料 Scholars Program

Each year, 香港六合彩资料 invites a small number of outstanding incoming first-year students to join the 香港六合彩资料 Scholars Program, a highly selective all-University four-year honors program. The Scholars Program provides incoming students of exceptional merit with a broad and flexible program of curricular and extracurricular enrichment to encourage these important goals:

  • Community-building and wellness
  • Diversity and cultural awareness
  • Intellectual curiosity and interdisciplinary thinking
  • Leadership and civic engagement
  • High-impact learning

The 香港六合彩资料 Scholars required curriculum is:

  • A shared first-year experience course (SCHL 127 Scholars Cornerstone Seminar)
  • Special topics courses created for, and offered only to, scholars that also typically fulfill general education requirements (SCHL 280/281)
  • A distinctive course promoting leadership and civic engagement (SCHL 227 Community Engagement: Where It Starts, How It Works, and Where You Fit In)
  • High-impact learning experiences and culminating projects/experiences in the junior and senior years for scholars (SCHL 327 and SCHL 427)

Graduates of the Scholars Program earn "President's Honors" or "All-University Honors" recognition upon graduation, dependent upon completion of program requirements and cumulative grade point average.

All first-year scholars live in the Newing College residential community in the Scholars Learning Community and have the option to remain in scholars housing beyond that.

English Language Institute

English for Multilinguals (EML)

The English Language Institute (ELI) provides courses and tutoring services for international undergraduate and graduate students, as well as multilingual students who might not use English as the primary language at home. Its goal is to help students improve their ability to use English in an academic context so that they may achieve their academic potential. Courses administered by the ELI use the English for Multilinguals (EML) rubric, and these classes are for matriculated students.

Undergraduate international students register for an EML course after taking an English Language Assessment given during International Student Orientation. Other multilingual students may opt into EML courses as well. Undergraduate students receive credit toward graduation for most EML courses. Questions should be addressed to the ELI.

Graduate students may register themselves for courses and will receive between one and four credits that count toward the number of hours they need to be full-time students. Some graduate courses are cross-listed with undergraduate courses, but are given S/U grades.
